You Need To Go To This Fantastic Prince Anniversary Party In Town Tonight

Sarah

The world was shook last year with all the deaths of legendary musicians such as David Bowie, George Michael, and of course – the artist known as Prince <3

So on Friday, April 21, a year to the day since we lost one of the most extraordinary artists, minds and musicians of all time, The Grand Social will throw a huge party in honour of the talent and joy of Prince.

Upstairs in The Loft, Housequake – a collective of the country’s best funk, soul and blues musicians, will perform Prince’s best-known hits and most loved fan favourites.

After the band there’ll be Purple and Gold, Keith Fennell (Hipdrop Records) Dennis Cassidy (The Record Spot) and Danny G on the decks with some amazing vinyl treats in store.

This will follow a panel discussion on the life and legacy of Prince with contributions from Today FM DJ Kelly Anne Byrne, Irish Times music correspondent Brian Boyd (who interviewed Prince for the paper) and more guests t.b.a.

Downstairs will see a screening of Purple Rain followed by sets from two of Dublin’s best known DJs Kelly Anne Byrne and Nialler 9. Deadly.

All three floors will be transformed into a “purple playground” in tribute, and partygoers are encouraged to wear purple – obvs.

Tickets are only €10 and can be bought in advance here.

In the meantime, get in the mood…
