45 People Have Been Sharing One House In Temple Bar

Up to 45 people have been sharing one house in Dublin’s Temple Bar, according to a new report.

The Irish Independent claims that the five-bedroom property has been furnished with bunk beds and each tenant is currently paying over €200 in rent each month.

The discovery comes amid a serious shortage of affordable accommodation in the city centre, with Daft’s Q2 Rental Price Report confirming that the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment at Dublin 2 now stands at €1,462.

The landlord of the unidentified property denied any knowledge of the high occupancy of the house, telling the newspaper that he had rented the house to one individual who ‘planned to occupy it with his friends’.

He also vowed to “deal with it as quickly and efficiently”.
