A Man In His 40s Was Shot In Ballymun Last Night

A man in his 40s was injured in a shooting in Ballymun last night. 

The incident happened at about 9.45pm in the Coultry area of the northside suburb. 

The man, who was shot in both legs, was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment. 

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and investigations are ongoing. 

The incident comes just days after another shootout in Ballymun which saw a Garda and an 18-year-old man injured.

The detective was hurt as he and his Emergency Response Unit colleagues entered a house at Barnwell Drive as part of a planned search on Thursday. 

Both men received non life-threatening injuries to the arm.
