All Boxing Judges And Referees From Rio Olympics Have Been Suspended

Amateur boxing body AIBA has recently sidelined all 36 of the referees and judges who partook in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic until a full investigation has been concluded after a series of controversial decisions involved in the Games.

The boxing tournament at the Summer Games in August was overflowing with controversy over the new '10 point must' scoring system, with allegations coming from some beaten boxers that they were "robbed" of victory, with judges and referees being heavily paid off in the background.

After being absolutely robbed in his quarter-final in Rio, Olympic boxer Michael Conlan had this to say about the AIBA's efforts:

The controversy over Conlan’s fight came just a few hours after Russian Evgeny Tishchenko was awarded a gold medal in his bout with Vassiliy Levit – despite the Kazakhstanian boxer clearly having beaten him.

Confronted with the accusations of corruption and criminality, not to mention live TV broadcasts hardly in their favour, the international federation issued in a statement that the committee that reviews officiating had ''assessed all 239 bouts at the Rio Games'' through Tuesday and had “determined that less than a handful of the decisions were not at the level expected.''

They went onto say...

''Until a final decision has been made, it has been decided that all 36 judges and referees that were used at the Olympic Games will not officiate at any AIBA events, along with further immediate measures adopted by the commissions.''

Looks like the Olympic boxer could have been onto something with this tweet...

Hey Vlad @PutinRF_Eng

How much did they charge you bro?? @AIBA_Boxing #Rio2016 ????
