It's sad to hear that an establishment is closing in the near future.
Take this iconic Dublin nightclub for example, it was announced this morning that it would be closing its doors for good after Christmas despite being in business for over 30 years.
At least that gives people time to pay their last respects to the place, but what happens when something closes without warning and people don't even get the chance to say the final goodbye?
That's what happened to this well-loved shop on O'Connell Street.
Blu Apple Kitchen at 35 O'Connell Street Upper shut its doors at the end of October and people couldn't understand why.
The only thing that was left for people to hold on to was their memories of the café and this heartbreaking note left on the door.

It reads:
"Dear Customer,
"It is with regret that I have had to close down due to a number of reasons including the increase of big brands and the rising costs of rent and rates.
"The decision to close was made very quickly at the end and I was unable to say goodbye to you, my loyal customers.
"I want, from the bottom of my heart to thank each and everyone of you for all the support over the last few years.
"Thank you, Damian."
The café was renowned for its fresh and healthy sandwiches made from good quality ingredients at good value.
