BREAKING: A Child Has Died After A Suspected Stabbing In South Dublin

An infant has passed away after receiving stab wounds in South Dublin this evening.

The Irish Independent is reporting that the incident occurred at an apartment block in the Kimmage area. A female is also understood to have been injured and is being treated at St. James’ Hospital. 

UPDATE:  A Garda press release reads:

Gardaí in Crumlin are investigating a homicide of an infant child (male) that occurred this evening, Monday July 10 2017 at approximately 7pm in the Poddle Park area of Crumlin.

An adult female in (early 40s) was also injured in the incident and has been taken to St James’ Hospital where her condition is described as serious.

The discovery was made when Gardaí were called to a house in Poddle Park. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The State Pathologist has been notified and the Garda Technical Bureau has been requested to examine the scene. The scene is currently preserved. 

An incident room has been established at Crumlin Garda Station.
