Dogs Could Be Banned From This Dublin Beauty Spot

If you're lucky enough to have a furry friend, then you'll know that we're spoilt for choice when it comes to places to bring them for a good long walk.

Bull Island is one of the most popular spots in the area for such a stroll but it looks like Dublin City Council could be set to put an end to this.

According to The Sunday Times, the local authority is considering closing off the northern end of the island to dogwalkers in order to protect wildlife in the area.

Dogs would still be allowed off their leads on Dollymount Strand south of the bridge adjoining the island to the mainland, but banned from the north tip where the seal colony and nesting grounds for ringed plovers are located.

Pat Corrigan, who supervises Bull Island, told the newspaper than social media has increased the number of people visiting this area of the island and that measures must be put in place to protect the seals.
