Dublin Drug Users Are Being Warned Over Potentially Fatal Batch Circulating The Capital

Dublin's drug users have been warned about the high presence of a Fentanyl in heroin and crack cocaine circulating the capital. 

Fentanyl, a drug used to tranquilise elephants, is being recorded 100 times more potent than morphine, according to the American Institute of Drug Abuse.

According to Dublin Live, reports in recent years have recorded a number of deaths in Dublin upon consumption of said drug when cutting it with heroin and crack cocaine. 

Fentanyl comes in many forms as it is a water-soluble drug.

This means it can be injected, consumed like a sweet or used as a patch when it is taken as a prescripted medicine. 

Illegally, Fentanyl comes as a pill or in powder form where it can either smoked or snorted. 

Gardaí have again raised concerns about the presence of the drug on our streets of Dublin in recent times. The substance, when cut with heroin or cocaine, can cause potentially lethal side effects.
