Dublin Man Casually Drank Juice In Kitchen As Building Went On Fire

Darragh Berry

A Dublin man who had over €150,000 worth of prescription and illegal drugs in his home was found drinking a glass of orange juice in the kitchen while the building was on fire.

The Irish Independent is reporting that Gardaí had to respond to a call about a house fire and discovered Jason Kearney was in the kitchen drinking orange juice while the place filled with smoke.

Kearney – who is in his late 30s – had to be told to get out of the kitchen because he kept walking back in despite the Gardaí’s warning and the building being on fire.

Once the fire brigade had extinguished the flames, a discovery of tablets was found on the kitchen countertop.

Phenazepam tablets, zopiclone pills and trifluoromethylphenylpiperazine were all present in ziplock bags in the tumble dyer.

The man has had 15 previous convictions and the Judge stated that Kearney had been “addicted all his life to drugs.”
