Dublin Traffic Standstill As Cyclists Protest In Bike Lanes

katedemolder

Dublin cyclists are now protesting in the form of human barricades in an effort to stop cars and vans from parking in the city’s cycling lanes.

A demo by the Dublin group just recently led to huge drawbacks in the Dame Street area just yesterday.

According to 98FM , this was following a protest involving members of a new lobby group standing in the way of a delivery van driver, which led to preventing him from parking in a cycle lane on Andrew’s Street.

Heated exchanges between 15 people ensued for up to an hour and twenty minutes as the protest carried on.

This comes as the Road Safety Authority has released a new awareness video, encouraging drivers to leave a safe distance of one and a half metres when overtaking cyclists.
