Dublin’s Convention Centre Was Lit In The French Colours Last Night In A Show Of Solidarity

Dublin's Convention Centre in the Docklands was lit in the colours of the French flag last night.

This was done as a show of solidarity for the victims of Friday night's tragic terrorist attack on Paris, a co-ordinated assault that included explosions and mass shootings at multiple points around the French capital.

128 were killed in the mayhem and more than 180 were wounded. According to the BBC, President Francois Hollande has just stated that this event was an "act of war" by the terrorist group Islamic State.

The world was united in grief over this horrific event and cities around the world showed their support for France at this dark hour by illuminating their landmarks in the French colours.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny commented on the attacks,

My thoughts and sympathies are with the bereaved, the French people. For now, the immediacy is the sympathies of the world to the French people. We hope those who planned this will be brought to justice in the shortest possible time.
