Dublin’s Girl Crew To Be Honoured At Facebook’s 12th Birthday Party In California

Facebook is turning twelve this year (!!!) and being the generous social media platform it is - it's honouring others: individuals and groups from the four corners of the globe that they wished to highlight as part of celebrating the network's dozen years of bringing people together. 

One such group is 'Girl Crew' - a global community of females who started up in Dublin. Founder Elva Carri kicked off Girl Crew, unbeknownst to herself, one night when she wished to go out dancing but none of her friends did. She got the brainwave of changing her preference on Tinder to 'female' and putting this as her profile picture:

Soon enough, the messages started pouring in from fellow ladies wanting to be her friend and generally get involved. 

Since then, the concept has grown internationally into small groups of women all over the world who want to just meet up and hang out like friends do - whether it’s for nights out, coffees, dinners, running, festivals or whatever.

The group now boasts over 22,000 in in over forty cities worldwide. Facebook will be filming Dublin's Girl Crew this weekend before flying the founding members over to Cali for a shindig with other featured friends and Facebook groups.
