Dublin’s Marker Hotel to be relaunched under a new name

James Fenton

The Marker Hotel is set to be given a new name after an agreement between its owners and Minor Hotels, who operate the Anantara brand.

Bangkok-based Minor Hotels will launch the first Anantara Hotel to Ireland, but according to the Irish Times, ‘the exact new name that will be given to the 187-bedroom hotel is not yet known.’

The hotel is located in Grand Canal Square and will now be relaunched as the first urban Anantara hotel in Europe, although the brand does operate as the Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort in Portugal and the Anantara Villa Padierna Palace in Marbella in Spain.

German firm Deka Immobilien currently owns the Marker after it recently acquired the building from Midwest Holding. The hotel contains 166 deluxe rooms, 18 executive rooms and three suites. It is located across from the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and is a prime location for people traveling to the Silicon Docks on business as well as tourists who want to be based on the southside of the city.
