A €60,000 innovation project has been launched by Dublin Bus with an aim of transforming the customer experience.
Dublin Bus Innovation (DBI) funding challenge, will run alongside the slogan ‘Your idea could change everything’.
They are looking to hear from bold thinkers, creative disruptors, and anyone whose ideas could help improve everyday journeys.
The key areas Dublin Bus are looking for proposals on include data and visualisation, optimisation, collaboration, and smart cities.
Additionally, up to €15,000 in seed funding, expert guidance and a dedicated team to bring the ideas to life is also being offered in each area.
Speaking at the DBI launch, Minister James Lawless TD commented: “As Ireland’s largest public transport provider, I greatly admire Dublin Bus’ ambition to keep moving forward and actively shape the future of transport and mobility.
“Dublin Bus Innovation shows a strong commitment to putting customers first and embracing new ideas.
“By inviting collaboration from employees, stakeholders, and the public, this initiative has the potential to unlock practical solutions, enhance everyday journeys, and help build a smarter, more connected city for everyone,” he continued.
165 million passengers were carried by Dublin Bus in 2025 resulting in an extensive amount of data which the company aims to further analyse to improve customer experience.
CEO of Dublin Bus, Billy Hann, explained how the initiative comes as part of the company’s ongoing effort to evolve alongside the capital.
"Running a company like Dublin Bus in a growing city requires constant adaptation,” Mr Hann said.
“Dublin Bus Innovation is about strengthening our ability to solve problems, work with others and apply new thinking at pace.
“It is a practical step in ensuring public transport continues to meet the needs of Dublin as the city evolves.”
