Lads and ladies, we’re going to cut the intro bullshit.
You love Father Ted, we love Father Ted, we know the quotes, you know the quotes and we could spend all week having a quote-off but there is literally no time because A FATHER TED MUSICAL IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING AND WE NEED TO TELL YOU ABOUT IT.
We shit you not, Father Ted creator, Graham Linehan took to Twitter to announce the amazing news and has said that co-creator, Arthur Mathews is also involved in the writing while music will be by Neil Hannon, the man behind the theme song and ‘My Lovely Horse’.
‘Pope Ted—The Father Ted Musical’ written by Arthur Mathews and myself, music by Neil Hannon, is almost written. I just thought you’d like to know. THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
— Graham Linehan (@Glinner) June 2, 2018
Of course, Graham had to tease us first by saying ‘hey guess what’ in one tweet before following up with ‘it’s very exciting’ before finallly spitting it out and saying that they have ALMOST WRITTEN the musical.
We have been waiting two decades for something like this and quite frankly we are absolutely over the moon.
It’s described by Linehan as the “real final episode of Father Ted”.
This is not a sick joke, this is not a drill.
This. Is. Real.
