Gardai ‘Terrorist Spotters’ Will Be In Action At U2’S Dublin Concert

Sarah

Gardai will deploy specialist ‘terrorist spotting’ teams at the upcoming U2 gig in Croke Park on July 22nd.

The plain clothes teams were also tasked with identifying potential threats during last month’s visit to Dublin by Prince Charles, and they will be on patrol before, during and after the concert.

The move was confirmed to the Irish Sun by Inspector Anthony Gallagher, who helps to plan security for large events.

Inspector Gallagher said: “Our planning for major events is very robust and we are constantly looking at new developments, trends and threats. Our spotters will have the freedom to observe what’s around them and report back any suspicious activity.

“We will have an adequate number of spotters to identify a number of risks and this will be their only role on the day.

“It’s important the general public know that we have confidence in our plans.”

Gardai are also reportedly considering placing the undercover spotters at Septemeber’s All-Ireland finals.
