Here’s All You Need To Know About Dublin Public Transport Services For This Week

The good people at AA Roadwatch has sorted us out with a super reliable list, for all of us who rely on public transport in the city. 

Which is pretty much all of us.

So let’s start with ol’ reliable:

Dublin Bus

The extra weeknight Nitelink services will not operate from December 24 – 29, or on New Year’s Day.

  • Tues 27 – Thurs 29 Dec: Saturday service with additional departures on all routes. No Nitelink
  • Fri Dec 30: Saturday service with additional departures on all routes. Nitelink will operate as normal
  • New Year’s Eve: Saturday service on all routes with last departures at approx. 10pm. Nitelink will operate as normal
  • New Year’s Day: Sunday service on all routes. No Nitelink
  • Mon Jan 2: Sunday service on all routes. No Nitelink

LUAS

Luas have added extra late-night services on all three outbound routes on weekends during December, as well as New Year’s Eve. Christmas party-goers will be able to take the tram home as late as 3:30am on the Green Line, and 2:30am or 3am on the Red Line.

See below for a list of the extra Night Luas services, and the planned timetable changes over the holiday period.

LUAS RED LINE (THE POINT TO TALLAGHT)
  • Last regular tram: Departing The Point Mon – Sat at 12:30am and Sun at 11:30pm
  • New Year’s Eve: Night Luas at 12:45am, 1am, 1:15am, 2am and 3am
LUAS RED LINE (THE POINT TO SAGGART)
  • Last regular tram: Departing The Point Mon – Sat at 12am and Sun at 11:30pm
  • New Year’s Eve: Night Luas at 1:30am and 2:30am
LUAS GREEN LINE (ST. STEPHEN’S GREEN TO BRIDES GLEN)
  • Last regular tram: Departing St. Stephen’s Green Mon – Sat at 12:30am and Sun at 11:30pm
  • New Year’s Eve: Night Luas at 1am, 1:30am, 2am, 2:30am, 3am and 3:30am

HOLIDAY SERVICES

  • Wed 28 – 30 Dec: Saturday service
  • New Year’s Eve: Saturday service with Night Luas as above
  • New Year’s Day – Mon Jan 2: Sunday service

IRISH RAIL

Schedule changes have been announced for Irish Rail’s Intercity and DART services, as well as Dublin commuter routes in Dundalk and Maynooth, and local services in Cork.

INTERCITY
  • Tues 27th – Fri 30th December: Weekday service with some alterations
  • New Year’s Eve: Saturday service with some alterations until approximately 9pm
  • New Year’s Day : Sunday service with some alterations
  • Mon 2nd Jan:

    • Heuston Intercity and Connolly/Belfast Enterprise services will operate a weekday service with some alterations
    • Sligo and Rosslare Intercity services will operate a Sunday service
    DART
    • Tue Dec 27: Saturday service with some alterations
    • Wed 28 – Fri 30 Dec: Saturday service
    • New Year’s Eve:

      • Saturday service until approximately 9pm (8pm for Heuston routes)
      • 1:30am and 2:30am from Pearse serving all stations to Howth
      • 1:30am and 2:30am from Connolly serving all stations to Greystones
    • New Year’s Day: Sunday service, with some alterations on Heuston commuter routes
    • Mon Jan 2: Sunday service
    • DUNDALK
      • Wed 28 – Fri 30 Dec: Saturday service with some alterations
      • Extra late night services on New Year’s Eve: 1:40am and 2:40am from Pearse serving Tara St, Connolly and all stations from Howth Junction to Dundalk
      MAYNOOTH
      • Wed 28 – Fri 30 Dec: Saturday service with some alterations
      • Extra late night services on New Year’s Eve: 1:20am and 2:50am from Pearse serving all stations to Maynooth

      Weekly, monthly and annual season tickets are valid on Late Night services, and security will be present.

      BUS ÉIREANN

      EXPRESSWAY
      • Wed 28 – Fri 30 Dec: Normal weekday service
      • New Year’s Eve: Saturday service with revisions
      • New Year’s Day – Mon Jan 2: Sunday service with revisions
      CITY SERVICES
      • Wed 28th  New Year’s Eve: Cork, Galway, Waterford and Limerick – Regular weekday service
