Home Sweet Home Group Served Legal Notice Over Takeover Of NAMA-Owned Apollo House

Alana Laverty

Home Sweet Home took over Apollo House, Tara Street on Thursday night with the aim of sheltering Dublin’s homeless for Christmas.

But according to The Irish Times lawyers for the empty office building have served legal notice against the activist group, which includes well-known figures Glen Hansard, Saoirse Ronan, Hozier, Christy Moore, Damien Dempsey, director Jim Sheridan and Mattress Mick.

Electricity and water was connected, beds were brought in and volunteers increased as Home Sweet Home prepared the building to accommodate homeless families starting yesterday.

But now lawyers are saying that they must vacate the building in the interests of “health and safety” and that they are “trespassing” or they will face court action.
