As the dispute between Luas workers and its operating company Transdev continues, strikes have been called for this Thursday 18 and Friday 19, as well as March 8 and St Patrick’s Day.
Having already taken industrial action with work-to-rule and last week’s 48-hour strike that disrupted 90,000 commuters a day, aggrieved light rail employees would disrupt one of the most profitable days of the year for Dublin tourism.
According to Newstalk.com, Transdev Managing Director Gerry Madden said today,
I am shocked and disappointed to learn that Luas employees plan on stopping the service not just this week, Thursday and Friday, February 18 and 19, on Tuesday March 8 and St Patrick’s Day March 17 2016. All in pursuance of their pay claims.
Luas workers are seeking increases in pay between 8 and 53%.
