Man Arrested After Disruptive Luas Incident This Morning

Sarah

It’s been reported that one man has been arrested following a disruptive incident on the Luas Red Line this morning which injured one and caused delays on the track.

A man pulled the emergency break lever on the Luas at Goldenbridge, Dublin 8, at around 8.15 am – causing the tram to suddenly halt and resulting in several passengers falling over.

Gardaí attended the scene along with the emergency services, who tended to one woman who received minor injuries from the incident.

A passenger who was on board at the time told The Journal that the man was talking loudly before saying “I have to do what I have to do”, and pulling the lever.

He also apparently tried to board another Luas at the stop before waiting at the scene where he was then arrested for a public order offence.

He is currently detained at Sundrive Garda Station.

All Luas services are now operating, however there may be delays for the next hour.
