New Dublin Bus route to be launched next month

The new route means several other routes will be pulled.

A new Dublin Bus route will be launched next month.

The National Transport Authority (NTA) announced that Phase 7 of the BusConnects network redesign will be launched on October 19.

The phase will introduce the new F-Spine along with several radial and local routes, thus meaning a number of long-standing services will be pulled.

Routes 9, 26, 40, 40b, 49, 54a, 83, 83a, 123 and 140 are set to be withdrawn as F1, F2, F3, 23, 24, 73, 80, 82, L89 are brought in.

The NTA’s programme BusConnect was made to redesign Dublin’s bus system around high-frequency 'spines' supported by local, orbital and radial routes.

The redesign aims at making the network simpler, more reliable and easier to navigate with the rollout so far leading to major increases in passenger numbers.

Additionally, three of the new routes, 23, 24 and 73, provide fresh city centre links from the northside, while 80 and 82 add further connections from the south and west, giving new direct links across the city.

F1: Ballymun (Ikea) – Finglas – City Centre – Tallaght (The Square) (24 hours, Spine)

F3: Charlestown Shopping Centre – City Centre – Greenhills (Spine)

23: Charlestown Shopping Centre – Finglas – Merrion Square (Radial)

24: Dublin Airport – Botanic Gardens – Merrion Square (Radial)

73: Marino – Thomas Street – Walkinstown (Radial)

80: Dartry – Usher’s Quay – Liffey Valley (24 hours, Radial)

82: Kiltipper – St. Stephen’s Green – Poolbeg (Radial)

L89: Rivermeade – Finglas – Broombridge (Local)
