Phibsboro Shopping Centre Is Set For A Huge Revamp

AmyBell

Dublin City Council has given the green light to plans to redevelop the Phibsboro Shopping Centre.

The €50m revamp will also include building on part of the grounds of Dalymount Park.

The Irish Times reported that the development will see a three-fold spike in the amount of retail space.

Apartments for 341 students will also be built.

One of the things that will be sticking around is the massive tower which has been described as an “eye sore” compared to other buildings around the city.

It’s been said that developers of the project can’t tear down the six storey building because they don’t own the Tesco and Eddie Rockets on the ground floor.

The new development, which will also boast restaurants, offices and a civic space, will take up to two years to build.
