The Cabra area is set to be transformed by by the construction of a new Lidl concept store.

Granted permission back in March, work on the new mixed-use development is already well underway.

The project is located at the junction of Old Cabra Road and Annamoe Road, and will feature a café, four houses, a bathroom and tile showroom, hardware shop and a Lidl.

The plans are similar to a number of proposals that budget supermarket plan to build across the country, with one such development already nearing completion at Lidl's national headquarters in Tallaght village. On site there includes a new Lidl concept store, with plans to develop retail units on the site.

Other new stores on the horizon for the German chain include locations in Swords and Glenageary.

This will result in good news for the areas, as Lidl chiefs plan to hire 600 employers in Ireland over the next two years, with at least 30 staff expected to be hired for each new store.
