Plans Unveiled For 1,000 New Homes On The South Circular Road

A new urban quarter is to be created on the South Circular Road as part of an ambitious new housing development.

Dublin City Council today unveiled plans to build 1,000 new homes in the St Teresa's Gardens area, with three separate complexes to be based on the site.

According to The Irish Times, the apartments will be built in blocks of two to eight storeys on the site of the former Players Wills cigarette factory, the former Bailey Gibson packaging plant, and St Teresa’s Gardens, a local authority housing complex.

Works have already began to demolish the older flats on site and plans for the new development have now gone on display for public consultation.

A cohort of new streets and public open spaces, including parks, sports fields and children’s playgrounds will also be included as part of the development.
