Rent caps in both Dublin and Cork, constructed in order to limit annual increases in rent, will come into effect as of tomorrow.

The caps come following President Michael D. Higgins signing off the legislation today.

According to Breaking News, The Planning and Development (Housing) and Residential Tenancies Act 2016 takes legal effect immediately, however the clauses on rent caps in 'rent pressure zones' take effect as of tomorrow.

There are reports that the caps could be introduced to other cities and commuter areas from next month, after inquiries by the RTB.
