The Army Will Be In Full Force In Dublin Today To Carry Out "Major Exercise"

It's going to be even more busy than usual in the capital today.

The Defence Forces have released a statement on their website informing the public that a major exercise will take place in the Dublin area on Wednesday.

Starting from 12:30pm, the Defence Forces told people not to be alarmed by the heavy presence of military vehicles and personnel involved in the action.

The exercise will involve over 500 Defence Forces personnel, including the elite Army Ranger Wing, exercising with An Garda Síochána.

In a statement, they said: "Members of the public can expect to see military vehicles, armoured vehicles, helicopters and armed personnel involved in the exercise.

"The Defence Forces hope to keep any disruption to a minimum; however, this exercise is necessary to ensure that the Defence Forces are fully prepared when called upon."

They have asked people to follow their Twitter account for updates
