The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, and at least seven ministers found themselves forced to evacuate Government Buildings this afternoon, due to none other than a fire alam.

The alarm, which kicked off in the Department of An Taoiseach, forced minsters and staff to leave the building on Merrion Street around midday.

The eight evacuees had to gather at the corner of Merrion Square for more than 20 minutes until the buildings was declared safe.

The people gathered were Minister for Sport Paschal O’Donovan, Minister of State for Financial Services Eoghan Murphy, Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs Sean Kyne, Minister of State for Food Andrew Doyle, Minister for Employment Pat Breen, Minister for Defence Paul Kehoe and Minister for European Affairs Dara Murphy.

The cause of the alarm is still unknown.

It is the second incident in two days of alarms going off in Government Buildings.
