St James’s Hospital in Dublin 8 is set to be the first hospital in the country to trial virtual reality headsets for dementia patients.
According to 98fm, it’s hoped that the headsets can aid those with early onset dementia.
The headsets are reportedly being used at the hospital’s Hollybrook Lodge residential care unit, in an attempt to engage older residents and allow them new experiences.
The hospital has received positive feedback from the new service, which is being trialed by twenty patients at present.
