Dublin Hospital Warning Patients To Go Elsewhere

The Mater Hospital on Eccles Street, Dublin 6 is asking non-urgent emergencies and injuries to avoid their A&E department due to major delays. 

For non-urgent issues the hospital is advising patients to visit their GPs or the Mater Injury Clinic in Smithfield. 

The Mater have released this statement:

We are asking the public to only attend our emergency department in the case of an emergency. For non-urgent complaints, please contact your GP or for minor injuries you can attend our Mater Smithfield Rapid Injury Clinic.  

At our Mater Smithfield Rapid Injury Clinic, you will be treated by Mater Hospital nurses and doctors who specialise in emergency care. We offer fast assessment and treatment at the clinic and you do not need an appointment or a GP referral letter to attend. 

At our Mater Smithfield Rapid Injury Clinic we treat:
 

  • Sprains and strains
  • Broken bones
  • Wound infections
  • Minor burns and scalds
  • Minor head injuries
  • Insect and animal bites
  • Minor eye injuries
