We love a good press release here at Lovin Dublin Towers.
One that cuts through the noise, one that stands out from the hundreds we receive every day, and one that gets us all to eyeball one another in the office and ask: "Did you see that email we just got?"
And this absolute classic – to mark Aldi's partnership with the National Ploughing Championships this summer – is basically the most Irish sentence we've ever read.
Ever ever?
Ever.
Oh wow...
Yup.
That said, while we may chuckle at the charming quaintness of it all, the Brown Bread Baking Competition is an absolutely fierce one – the winner of the grand final will have their bread stocked in Aldi stores nationwide, and receives a share of the profits (guaranteed to be at least €10,000).
So you can imagine it all gets a bit intense at the top.
Last year's winner, Roscommon's Margaret Sexton, recently commented:
I was absolutely thrilled to have won last year, I was up against some of the best. The competition was great fun and I met some wonderful people along the way. I’ve been on cloud 9 ever since! It is a great achievement for me seeing my bread, ‘Margaret’s Loaf’ on the shelves of Aldi stores nationwide.
So will we be seeing Rosanna's Loaf on shelves next year?
Whatever the outcome, it takes guts to throw your hat into a ring of fire like this one. G'luck, Rosie...
