Allie Sherlock is just twelve years of age, and she already boasts a fanbase that most celebrities would be proud of.
Hailing from Cork, Sherlock has been playing guitar for over three years and shares her talents on Cork’s Patrick Street and Dublin’s Grafton Street often – earning her thousands of fans.
Her Facebook page has a whopping 43,000 followers and counting, at time of writing, and her latest video has over 30,000 likes.
Her viral hits have caused a stir stateside, prompting talent scouts from The Ellen Show to pick up the phone.
However, the Douglas native states that she sees music is a passion rather than a career, and opted out of the enormous gig.
Speaking to Cork’s Evening Echo:
“I want to keep practising all the time and singing and so it’s like a hobby really. “I don’t want it to be a professional career but I’d like to do it, just as a hobby.”
Her dad Mark mentioned the side-effects of going viral:
“There’s been a few people on to us about different things. She had the Ellen Show in America contact with her but she’s only 12 and she just enjoys a bit of busking. My main thing is that Allie continues to be Allie because she’s a child. She enjoys her singing and as soon as it isn’t fun anymore, that would be the end of it.”
Not too shabby, eh?
