WATCH: Peter O’Mahony Forgets He’s Injured And Tries To Celebrate Ireland’s Historic Win At Full-Time

What’s there to be said about the Irish win that hasn’t already been discussed.

Everyone on the pitch last night gave 110% and left their bodies out on the field.

Case in point is Peter O’Mahony who actually left some part of himself on the pitch.

The man was physically falling apart against the All Blacks, after being treated several times by the medical staff, but continued to soldier on.

It wasn’t going to matter if the Munster man had no working part of his body at full-time, he was going to celebrate regardless.

And he did. He leaped up when Ireland forced New Zealand to make a mistake and the full-time whistle went.

His facial expression soon changed, however, when he jumped up and realised that he was in sheer agony.

It just sums up the perfect balance between his jubilation and sheer pain and in a way it’s bloody beautiful.

He told RTE after the game that: “It’s a special group of boys and it’s an honour to play alongside them every time we take the field. It’s a special day today playing alongside some of my best friends.

“We knew we had to be relentless, they’re not number one in the world for the craic, they’re the best team in the world.

“We knew we probably had to play our best game of this squad’s tenure and it was well up there with one of the best.

“It was unreal playing alongside them; boys showing up everywhere making tackles that probably shouldn’t have been made but guys are fighting for each other and for the cause.

“We’re building nicely; some nice confidence going into the next Six Nations and we’ve obviously got a big game next week against the states so we’ll get recovered and get stuck in next week.

“It’s a big piece of history for us and it was one we wanted to tick off in Ireland and we’ve ticked it off now so happy days.”
