The Lo-cal Kitchen Has Set Up A Second Location In The City Centre

seank

Lo-cal Kitchen has just set up a second location on Pembroke Street and all health nuts should be excited.

With its original eatery having become exceedingly popular in Castleknock, the health food haven finally found its way into the heart of the city in October.

Located in front of The Henry Fitness Centre, their new ‘Express’ café is smaller than their first place with a paired down version of their original menu for on-the-go healthy types.

Stephen Connolly, co-founder of the eatery, explained the ethos behind it,

The main premise is to bring the clean, nutritional food that we’re known for to a ‘grab-and-go’, fast service offering to high footfall areas… We’re trying to offer choice, variety and flavour in our health food.

Lo Cal Main

Everything on offer here is made from scratch in their kitchen using Irish, organic produce (where possible), they aim to make clean dishes that taste like they aren’t, and they display ‘macros’ (protein, fats, carbs) and calories on all menu items.

A few of the snacks you can expect to find: ‘Breakie In a Glass’  (rolled oats,
chia seeds, natural yoghurt, almond
milk, banana, mixed berries and honey), Citrus Salad (mixed salad leaves, orange, mixed
bell peppers, red onion, strawberries
and goji berries, a sweet & sour
dressing made of honey, cider vinegar, olive
oil & black pepper), and Sweet Potato Chocolate Brownies (sweet potato, coconut flour,
hazelnuts & maple syrup).

The thing on their menu that’s really catching our attention, however, is their Snickers Pie (almonds, coconut oil, raw
maca powder, raw cacao powder,
cashew nuts, dates & honey) which contains only 246 calories and looks savage.
