Conor McGregor Granted Professional Boxing Licence By The State Of California

James Fenton

Conor McGregor has been granted a professional boxing licence by the state of California.

Speculation has been rife for some time about a potential bout with multiple world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr and it now looks like it may be a possibility.

California State Athletic Commission executive officer Andy Foster told MMAFighting.com:

“He’s a California boxer now. He’s qualified. I’d love to see him fight in California. It just needs to be the right opponent. Certainly a high-level opponent. We’re happy to license him. We’re happy he’s a California fighter.”

The two have never shirked an opportunity to fire barbs at each other and while the feud has been dismissed by some cynics as meaningless self-promotion, the more hopeful McGregorites amongst us will now be confident that the fight of the century could happen.

What do you think of the developments? Will McGregor v Mayweather take place and if so who will come out on top? Let us know in the comments.
