Katie Taylor’s Next Opponent Has Been Confirmed And She’s A Tough Cookie

James Fenton

She made light work of Karina Kopinska on Saturday but it looks like Katie Taylor’s next opponent is an altogether tougher proposition.

The Bray boxer will face Viviane Obenauf of Brazil in Manchester on December 10th in a bout which will be on the undercard of the high-profile IBF heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Eric Molina.

So what kind of fighter will our golden girl be up against? In 10 professional fights, Obenauf has lost only once and even that was to recently crowned world featherweight champion Vissia Trovato.

That sole defeat was on points so she’s never been knocked out but we’re sure she’ll be fully aware of the threat that Katie offers.

At 30 years old, Obenauf is the same age as Katie and should provide much more of a challenge than Kopinska, who Katie defeated with ease on Saturday.

With the Ireland football and rugby teams flying, Conor McGregor dominating the UFC and Katie’s professional career off to a great start, let’s hope this purple patch for Irish sport continues.
