We got the opportunity to see the best young artists in Ireland last Wednesday night from the comfort of our own office — and we were seriously impressed by what we saw.  

The Lovin team recently moved into The Brickhouse at Clanwilliam Court, the newest development from Iconic Offices, a collection of vibrant and flexible workspaces that seek to spark creativity and innovation.

Which is why it's the perfect setting for an art exhibition.

Iconic Offices invited art and design students from Dublin’s NCAD and IADT colleges to occupy 20 spaces of honour in The Brickhouse, as a platform to display their artworks and to offer one lucky winner the chance to bag the overall cash prize of €2,000.

Joe McGinley, CEO and Founder of Iconic Offices said of the competition:

“Our new and exciting co-working space, The Brickhouse supports entrepreneurs, creatives and young talent. For this reason, we thought it would be a great opportunity to support grass root creative talent and give them a platform to showcase their work through The Brickhouse Art Competition, placing their art on our walls.”

The competition got a huge response, with over 50 applications being submitted to take part, and Fleetwood Paints sponsored all the paints which the top 20 entrants ultimately used for their pieces.

The crowds started to trickle into The Brickhouse right after work to appreciate the marvellous pieces occupying our walls.

Of course, no art exhibition is complete with a little music and some light refreshments... and maybe even a little Gino's ice cream.

It also gave us the perfect excuse to use the office beer tap, not that we ever need one.

Once the party was in full swing, the four winners of the competition were announced. 

The judging panel was made up of leaders in the design industry including Róisín Lafferty Founder and MD of Kingston Lafferty Design, Contemporary Urban Artist James Earley, Creative Director of Brown Thomas John Redmond and Iconic Offices CEO and Founder Joe McGinley, who had the difficult task of whittling it down to just 20 final student artworks.

In joint third place were Dan Irwin and Kevin Roche (€500 cash prize), Eva O’Donovan came second (€1,000 cash prize) and the overall winner of The Brickhouse Art Competition was Anne Ebeling (€2,000 cash prize).

And well deserved it was.
