Alarms have been going off very early this morning with people getting up to take part in the Darkness Into Light walk and run which is a charity initiative by Pieta House.
The walk is aimed at raising money and awareness around suicide and self harm, and has grown into a major event over the last 8 years. This year the rganisers were expecting between 120,000 to 150,000 people to take part.
As you can see from the photos the main event was in the Phoenix Park, but Irish people are helping spread it all over the country and further afield.
