This Aussie Musician’s Short Film About Dublin And Music Will Make You Fall In Love With This City All Over Again

Alana Laverty

“I first travelled to Dublin in 2014 with the sole ambition of going busking on Grafton Street.”

Sam Brittain, an Australian musician, first came to Dublin two years ago in 2014.

But something made him stay.

It has been lovely to call Dublin home for the past little while.

When I think about why I love Dublin it all stems back to one simple thing, a passion for music that runs deep, hot and fast through the veins of of this city. Combine this inherent love for art and culture with all the weird and wonderful characters you meet here; especially when your life revolves around singing and playing guitar in the street.

For me that love affair began back in 2014 in a little pub on a Friday night where I met a gentleman looking for answers in the bottom of a beer glass. His story flicked a switch, one thats flickered on and off like a fluorescent light bulb about to die, staying in my peripheral but keeping my attention no matter what corner of the room I occupy.

Sláinte mo chara.

He has made this video – a tribute to our wonderful city.

“There’s an energy to the people here, regardless if they’re from Dublin or not.”

Sam Brittain

If that didn’t make you fall in love with Dublin all over again, we don’t know what will.
