There’s A Dubliner In This Hugely Popular Video Game — And She Uses One Of The Greatest Irish Insults

It’s always good to see that the representation of Ireland and its people is becoming more and more accurate — even in futuristic sci-fi video games.

Overwatch is a massively popular video around the world which is set 60 years into the future of a fictionalised Earth, where humans are at war with robots. There are 26 playable characters in Overwatch and one of them is named Moira O’Deorain, who is a native of Dublin (according to her fictional biography).

Each character has their own specific voice lines and Irish fans of the game on Reddit noticed that our cailín was not only given an Irish accent, but she was also given a few genuine Irish sayings…

It’s about time that the withering insult “state of you” was shared with the wider world.

We can only assume that the developers are working on the “leave eh ouh” update as we speak.
