Mick Jagger Tells Croke Park Fans He Enjoyed A Spice Bag In Town This Week

James Fenton

The humble spice bag rose to prominence at Croke Park last night as Mick Jagger announced that himself and his bandmates enjoyed the Irish delicacy in Temple Bar in the build-up to the gig.

The Rolling Stones played a well-received show to an adoring crowd at GAA HQ and yours truly was in attendance. The quiet hum before the show started was put to an abrupt halt when the veteran rockers burst onto the stage to the sound of Sympathy For The Devil before playing a two-hour set packed with a string of their biggest hits

Midway through the show, Jagger, who was spotted at the Ireland v Pakistan cricket game on Sunday, told fans that the Stones spent some time in Temple Bar this week and sampled all the hearty goodness that a spice bag has to offer.

It’s certainly been a busy few days for the 74-year-old as he also dined with Ed Sheeran on his trip to the capital. In a weird way, it’s comforting to know that the boys will embark on the rest of their tour fuelled by one of the greatest culinary inventions in history. That is of course if Mick wasn’t making the whole thing up but what would he have to gain from that?
