There's quite a lot to say about the humble chip.
Not one to rise above its station, never too far in your time of need and always ready to lend a hand – there's not much our starchy side kick can't do.
So we've decided to honour it in its many forms, and highlighted the very best variations of fries one can get in our little city.
Maybe now we can finally answer that age old question: daddy or chips? (Chips, obv.)
1. Smokey Bison fries, Bison
Decadence in its holiest form. The smokey bacon fries are made up of their usual fries with pulled pork shoulder, chipotle mayo, and smoked applewood cheese. Heaven on Earth.
2. Bag of chips, Leo Burdock's
A Dublin institution, Burdock's dish out the best chips Dublin, and that's a fact. Their chips are heaven sent, especially when you order them with 'crispy bits' (pictured below).
Trust us, you'll wake up craving them after just one bite.
3. Poutine, Taco Taco
For those of you not in the know, poutine is a Canadian dish, made with French fries and cheese curds, and topped with a light brown gravy. It's all the right kids of filthy, and Taco Taco nail it in terms of total and utter satisfaction.
Their version is topped with the welcome ingredients of smokey bacon, black pepper sauce and mozzarella.
4. Chilli fries, Wowburger
These are the chips your mother warned you about.
A meal on their own, chilli fries are like a grown up taco chips, and they are heaven. Wowburger does it again.
5. Sweet potato cubes, Jo'Burger
The tastiest, and the best. Jo'Burger was the deserving winner of our best sweet potato fries award. And once you taste these bad boys, you'll know why. Tasty, moreish and delicious. And healthy... sort of.
6. Animal fries or ultimate fries, Just Wing It
We couldn't choose between the two, so we picked both. Which you'll understand, after hearing the ingredients that go into them.
Animal fries consist of fried onions, cheese and California sauce, and ultimate fries are their original buffalo salted fries with loaded with garlic, cheese and bacon. It's extra large and made for sharing.

7. Parmesan fries, The Counter
Crispy, flavoursome and absolutely heavenly altogether. The Counter have bestowed upon us cheesy chips that are acceptable to eat in the day time.
And for that, we are forever grateful.
8. Aioli, parmesan and jerk bacon fries, P Mac's
Classy cheese fries. Did you ever think you'd see the like?
P Mac's have upped Dublin's chip game by sprinkling all the finer things in life on the best base a gal could ask for: crispy, fluffy chips. Perfection.
9. Dirty fries, Box Burger
Delicious, decadent, durty – these chips are Box Burger's holy grail, as well as everything you could ever ask for.
Covered in pepper sauce and bacon, these bad boys are as tasty as they are moreish.
10. Beef dripping chips, Featherblade
Featherblade is a carnivorous haven, with even the chips having a meaty twist.
Exactly what it says on the tin, these chips are fried in beef dripping and they're as glorious as they sound.
11. Truffle and parmesan chips, Whitefriar Grill
Decadence, in chip form. There is a God and their name is Whitefriar Grill.
These chips are flavoursome, smoky and ludicrously tasty. You won't soon forget about this little slice of heaven.
12. And finally – Polenta chips, Rustic Stone
The closest thing to healthy chips you could ever find, and they're still UNREAL.
Cooked with pink peppercorns and rosemary, these are the best guilt free snack money can buy.
