A brand new 230-bedroom hotel has been given the go ahead to be built, right in the heart of the Liberties.
The re-development has been praised by some, hoping for a welcome change in the area, but has raised concerns in others.
According to Dublin Live, Dublin City Council has granted permission for the new hotel, which will be located on a site in The Coombe. The building is expected to breathe new air into Dublin’s historic Liberties area.
And while permission has fully been granted, concerns about building such a large development in such a community area have been brought to focus.
The biggest concern seems to include traffic control and the massive lack of parking space available in the area.
Another area of concern is the proximity of the proposed development and construction sites to residential homes.
The amended application for the hotel was approved by the council on February 16.
