A building in Mountjoy Square, North Dublin is to be evacuated over the next few days amid fire safety concerns.

Twenty people who are staying in the premises, which includes family and students, have been ordered to leave, according to the Irish Independent.

Dublin City Council previously issued a fire safety notice to the building in August last year.

The building is also home to a language school as well as several businesses.

A family living on the top floor is to leave immediately, while the students, who were staying in the basement, have a few weeks to leave the premises.

Fire wardens who were put in place to monitor the building will also remain in place.
