BREAKING: Connolly Train Station Evacuated In Security Alert After ‘Suspicious’ Item Found

Update 14.45: Connolly station is reopening and the security alert is lifted.

Connolly Station is closed due to a security alert after a “suspicious item” was found on the train tracks shortly after 12pm today, the Irish Independent reports.

The station has been cleared of all passengers and no one is being allowed in or out of the station, with all trains not stopping at the station. 

Luas trams will also not be stopping at the station as of now.

Gardai are at the scene and the Army Bomb Disposal Team is reportedly at the scene.

People were evacuated and are asked to use alternative routes in the area

A Garda statement says that the station is closed due to an “incident” in which a suspect device was found nearby
