Now is not a good time to be looking for accommodation in Dublin.
The horrific rental crisis coupled with an influx of students looking for accommodation for September means it’s a total war zone out there – and some colleges have had enough.
Last week, a member of Maynooth Student Union revealed that he had removed a renting advertisement from the college’s accommodation page because it was ‘too much to be charging a student.’
A landlord trying to charge €150 weekly in Maynooth. I remember a time when that was two weeks rent. Anyways low battery or not, tonight these landlords are getting HEAT. pic.twitter.com/UzTpPJKY3O

Now, a member of DCU Student Union is following in Maynooth’s footsteps, exposing ridiculous ads targeted at students.
SU Vice President for Welfare and Equality Aisling Fagan took to Twitter to share a photo of what was clearly a single room, with an extra bed squeezed in.
She wrote: ‘This is what we’re dealing with. Landlords charging €500 a head for a room like this. Absolute madness. There’s no way we can approve something like this to be advertised to our students! What is clearly a single room, with another shoved in for a bit of extra €€.’

For €500 a month per head, this is absolutely sickening.
