Get ready to spend all your wages on new trainers and gym gear as the replacement for the Forever 21 store on Jervis Street has just been announced: JD Sports, known as ‘the king of trainers’ will be moving in later this year.

The Irish Times report that the UK retailer will relocate to the 35,000sq ft flagship store on the ground and upper floors of Jervis Shopping Centre, taking over the adjoining space that’s currently occupied by Next.

JD Sports is reported to be paying €2.15 million a year in rent for the new store.

Next will move this summer to a part of the former Arnotts store on Henry Street where it will be split over three levels.

Accounts published by Forever 21 earlier this year showed that it had losses of up to €15 million in 2016 and overall losses of €40 million since it opened in 2010.

The store came to Dublin eight years ago to the Jervis Centre, taking over a 6,503sq m outlet in the shopping centre of three floors for a rent of €2.75 million a year.
