James Fenton

There were chaotic scenes on the Dublin to Belfast train on Saturday even as Tyrone and Armagh GAA fans clashed on the way back from their match at Croke Park.

A father has told the Irish Post how he saw a female Armagh supporter get punched in the face amid the chaos.

The witness said:

“As soon as we walked into Connolly station I said to my son ‘we’re going to have problems’.

“An almighty fight broke out as the train approached Drogheda.

“We stopped for 30 minutes outside Drogheda. When we eventually arrived in Drogheda, Gardaí were at the station.”

Gardaí confirmed that they were called to Drogheda station to deal with the incident.
