The iconic Screen Cinema, which closed down on Hawkins Street at the start of 2016, is to be turned into a mixed-use venue consisting of offices, a music venue, a cafe, bar and restaurant.

Dublin City Council have approved planning permission for a 10-storey venue to be built on the site of the former cinema.

The new building will have space for a cafe, shops and a restaurant, landscaped roof terraces and a 500-seater basement venue for music and entertainment which will also have a bar and restaurant.

Here's what the new building is expected to look like...

Some bus stops in the area will have to be moved to accommodate the construction works and building is expected to begin in the New Year.
