Tensions have been high in the last few days ever since Australian millionaire Tim Gurner announced that young people will never be able to afford houses if they continue wasting their money on brunch and coffee.
AKA, the only two things that bring us joy in this cruel world.
“When I was trying to buy my first home, I wasn’t buying smashed avocado for $19 and four coffees at $4 each. We’re at a point now where the expectations of younger people are very, very high,” he said.
Eh, no shit.
This was met with plenty of uproar as you can imagine – life without avo toast just ain’t worth livin’.
Lidl’s response?
Our avocados are only 69c, so you can have them on toast AND save for a house… pic.twitter.com/Z0zaqK5b79

They’re dead right too.
Avocados are a basic human necessity. Don’t be deprivin’ yo’selves.
