Homeless Dublin mam, Margaret Cash, who slept with six of her seven children in Tallaght Garda station last week, has received an apartment from the council.
Speaking to Miriam O’Callaghan on RTÉ’s Today with Miriam O’Callaghan show, Margaret said the council rang this morning.
Cash and her seven children will have the apartment on a trial basis from Friday.
The family have been staying in temporary accommodation provided by Inner City Homeless (ICH).
She said: “So the council rang back this morning and said come Friday they will have a three-bed apartment here in town somewhere.
“I’m going to tell them and they will be over the moon.”
She also spoke about her life as a traveller. She got married at 15 and started to have children.
“I went to school until the end of primary school. Being a traveller – it’s hard to explain if you don’t understand it.”
“I just don’t have a home and I don’t care what people think.”
She also criticised the Government’s response to her and other families situations and the homelessness crisis in general.
